My week at CCBEU

29,May 2011
Well, let's get down to this first post ...My teacher at CCBEU(Centro Cultural Brasil Estados Unidos), Gilmar, gave us the chance to express our ideas and opinions here in a blog. He chose the group of students that I belong to and asked us if we could participate of this project. I found it very interesting and I decided to start posting weekly here, talking about my classes and my opinions about them.
I really like learning English and I think the blog is a good idea to improve my written communication skills. It is a language that have aways fascinated me and I would love to share my week at English school in this website!

On the first class of this week, on Monday, the first thing we did was a song activity. Weeks ago I was thinking to ask the teacher a song and I felt so happy when he gave us the lyrics and announced the activity =)
It was like he had read my mind! The song was wonderful as usual: Gilmar aways brings us beautiful and inspiring songs...I'm addicted to good music, so the day started very well for me...The song  name is "someone like you" and the singer is Adele, a british woman, that actually sings with a magical voice *-*
Here is the video of the song at youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZtUjFJvYkA

This week we had another nice listening activity: a girl was talking abou how her father took care of his car. That sounded perfectly real for me because I have some car lovers in my family. They treat them like babies! And they do have another characteristic in common: they like old cars...¬-¬. At grammar section we learned how to talk about repeated actions (like rituals) using the verb to be future forms and to express past actions and states with "used to" sentences.

All in all, that was my week at CCBEU. I hope you'll enjoy my post.

  1. Hey Laís,

What a great job you have done here! This is exactly what I have expected from you and more! This is the main idea for the blogs. Anyone in cyberspace who reads your post can clearly understand what we have been doing in class as you have covered all the points.
I am really glad to know you have liked the song and that I had been "inspired" that day as you had wanted to have a song.
You see the power of technology? If we had this space before you could have (I am sure you would have) shared this expectation of yours before and I strongly believe your classmates must have a lot to share as well.
We are always struggling with time and unfortunately we may not have the chance to say everything we want while we are together in class.
Now we do have this other channel for communication.
Keep up the great work! I am looking forward for your next post. Blogging is definitely the channel for you.
    See you later.

    Gilmar
